Modalis sets up arm in Italy

French-headquartered transport equipment maker Modalis Group has opened a subsidiary in Italy, headed by Alessandro Lupieri. As well as Development Director of Modalis Italia, he will also be in charge of business development in Switzerland and Eastern and Central Europe.

He has previously worked for companies including intermodal operator TIPES, and more recently wagon hire company VTG Rail Europe as head of intermodal sales and innovation for the Italian market.

He is an expert in intermodal transport, particularly wagon and container hire and logistics.

Through its new Italian subsidiary, Modalis aims to offer an integrated service to Italian manufacturers, hauliers and logistics companies in a strategic country for railways.

With its recent acquisition of the Italian manufacturer CCFC, the group offers a road-rail semi-trailers, swap bodies and containers, supported bythe engineering firm Altech.

Lupieri said: “I’m delighted to be joining Modalis, a highly innovative family business. Its wide range of services, embracing sales, trade, rental and advice, and the extensive variety of equipment and wagons it offers make it a very promising player in Italy.”
