More Russia sailings for Containerships but Med dropped

[ August 23, 2011   //   ]

Finnish-owned short-sea line Containerships said it would offer improved services from the UK to Finland, the Baltics and Russia but would also close its service from Sheerness and Teesport to the Mediterranean due to the difficult economic climate.

An improved nine-vessel schedule to Russia will be operational as from beginning of September, offering improved frequency and transit time and up to four weekly connections from the UK and the Benelux to Finland and Russia and more direct links than previously.

Last sailings between the UK and Piraeus, Istanbul and Izmir are due to take place in August and September. However, Containerships’ intra-Med service linking Turkey, Egypt, Libya and Tunisia will be improved.
