Multimodal: Now’s the time to get it together

[ October 11, 2021   //   ]

When Multimodal 2021 opens its doors on Tuesday, visitors will find a new matchmaking service to connect shippers to each other and to exhibitors at the show, who include ONE, DP World, Maritime Transport, Malcolm Group, Dachser, and Kuehne + Nagel.

Show director Robert Jervis says that feedback from exhibitors and visitors is that people are eager to get back together and drive new business – and what better way to achieve it than Multimodal’s new service?

“We are expecting a great turnout,” he says.

Robert Jervis adds: “We are proud to be one of the first shows to reconnect companies in the supply chain industry after so many months apart.”

Also new for this year is the British International Freight Association (BIFA) freight forwarders’ village, bringing together providers including ASM, Rhenus, and DSV.

This year’s seminar programme, supported by Logistics UK, will focus on building a sustainable future for logistics. Thought leaders from across the industry will share insight and best practice on how tech innovation and people power are driving a new business landscape.

The United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) has organised an afternoon of discussion as part of the schedule to look at going green and going digital.

“We have put together a series of informative sessions, which will deliver useful information on the way forward for businesses in supply chain,” said Robert Jervis. “With so much going on at the moment, it is important to stay up to date with the changing regulatory landscape and learn from each other as never before.”

Ports exhibiting at Multimodal include Calais Boulogne, Portsmouth, Bilbao, Normandy and Dunkirk, as well as Zeebrugge, Bristol, the Port of Tyne, Sunderland, Forth Ports, and Peel Ports.

Also from the maritime sector are CMA CGM, Brittany Ferries, Transfennica, and MSC.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), as well as the Rail Freight Group, will also be attending.

G&W, DRS, Swain, EV Cargo, Fagan & Whalley, Howard Tenens, and Noatum will also be at the show.

The show includes two networking events, the Multimodal Awards, hosted by football legend Kevin Keegan on 19 October and the Multimodal Mixer, hosted on the exhibition floor on 20 October.
