National Careers Week and International Women’s Day – BIFA gets involved
[ March 3, 2026 // Chris Lewis ]The British International Freight Association (BIFA) is again supporting National Careers Week , highlighting the wide-ranging and rewarding career opportunities available within freight forwarding and the wider logistics sector.
It says that while freight forwarding plays a vital role in keeping global trade moving, awareness of the profession among school leavers and graduates remains limited.
BIFA is working to change that perception by demonstrating that the sector offers dynamic, technology-driven and globally connected careers.
A key pillar of BIFA’s commitment to early-career development is its Young Forwarder Network (YFN) which provides a platform for young professionals in the industry to connect, collaborate and develop their careers.
BIFA is also expanding its school engagement initiatives including promoting freight forwarding apprenticeships, supporting employer participation in careers fairs, and providing accessible information about the sector to educators and students.
Director general Steve Parker, commented: “National Careers Week provides an important platform to showcase the breadth of opportunity within freight forwarding. Our industry offers exciting, global careers with real responsibility from an early stage. Through our Young Forwarder Network, school engagement activity and leadership development, we are committed to inspiring and supporting the next generation.”
And ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March BIFA is reaffirming its commitment to advancing gender equality and increasing the representation of women across the freight forwarding and logistics sector.
Dawn White, who recently joined BIFA as head of digital communications and events, said: “The logistics and freight forwarding industry has historically been male-dominated, but momentum is building. As the leading trade association for UK freight forwarders and logistics service providers, BIFA recognises the vital role women increasingly play in driving innovation, resilience and growth throughout international supply chains.”
BIFA is calling on member companies to use the Day as a catalyst for measurable change through mentorship programmes, flexible working policies, or leadership development initiatives aimed at closing gender gaps.
