Network Rail joins pan-European group

[ October 28, 2015   //   ]

Britain’s Network Rail is to join the management board of the Rail Freight Corridor North Sea – Mediterranean European Economic Interest Grouping. Current RFC North Sea – Med members include Eurotunnel the rail network bodies of the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Luxembourg. The aim is to make planning of freight services simpler through a ‘one-stop shop’ for freight operators to book pre-planned freight paths connecting London with the continent. Operators will also be better informed about infrastructure, maintenance and repair work across the continent as information is more easily shared along the corridor.
According to an EU regulation, RFC North Sea – Med will be extended to London by November 2016 at the latest. On this date, the corridor will also be extended to Amsterdam, Zeebrugge and Marseille.
