New Brittany ship for Cherbourg/Rosslare

Brittany Ferries is to charter a new ro-Pax ferry, the Wexford to replace the Norbay on its Cherbourg/Rosslare route.

Wexford will be French flagged and crewed by French seafarers. She will begin operations in March 2027, making three weekly return crossings along with one Portsmouth-Cherbourg rotation

The new vessel has capacity for 12,500 lane metres, including increased freight space.

Britanny offers a total of up to seven weekly return sailings between Rosslare and Cherbourg, two weekly return sailings between Rosslare and Bilbao, and two weekly return sailings between Cork and Roscoff.

One year ago, Britanny announced that the Norbay would be replaced as soon as was possible by a suitable ro-pax ship. It said that the freight-oriented Norbay limited passenger traffic due to cabin availability while the Wexford is designed for holiday makers.
