New carrier faces transatlantic hurdle

[ January 8, 2014   //   ]

Scandinavian low-cost carrier Norwegian could face an obstacle in its bid to develop transatlantic flights. US pilot groups and some US airlines have accused the carrier of ‘social dumping’ by incorporating an affiliate company in Ireland and recruiting and domiciling its pilots in Asia. The issue is currently being discussed by US and EU officials in Washington. Norwegian strated flights between New York and Oslo and Stockholm last year and has ordered a total of 22 Airbus and Boeing planes.
