Mukran Port in north-east Germany has appointed Henry Forster as managing director of Faehrhafen Sassnitz. A native of the island of Rügen, he succeeds Harm Sievers, who successfully led Mukran Port for many years and retired from the company in October.

State Secretary from the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Tourism, and Labor of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Leon Kraeusche, Mayor and representative of the main shareholder, the city of Sassnitz, officially welcomed him to his new role. The latter said: “With Henry Forster, we have gained an experienced and committed managing director who not only knows the Baltic Sea region and the specific requirements of our port exceptionally well, but also possesses in-depth knowledge of the relevant market conditions and economic dynamics, thanks to his long-standing industry expertise and market experience.

“Furthermore, his expertise in business transformation will help us continue to develop our ferry port into a modern multifunctional port with associated industrial areas, thereby sustainably strengthening the Sassnitz port location and its economic significance.”
