Maritime Transport and DB Cargo have unveiled two new locomotives, Maritime Intermodal One and Two, to mark the recent agreement between the two companies.

They were named at a ceremony at Maritime’s recently acquired rail terminal in Wakefield on 29 March. The event also marked the official signing of Maritime’s new long-term contract with DB Cargo (UK) under which Maritime will three DB services from Southampton to its terminals in Tamworth, Trafford Park and Wakefield and a Felixstowe to Wakefield service.

Earlier, the TSSA trade union said it was in talks with the chief executive of rail freight operator DB Cargo, Hans-Georg Werner to avert a strikeover the terms of transfer for 16 jobs at Trafford Park and Wakefield Terminals to the new joint venture.
