New start for Davies Turner in Turkey with Talay and Gebrüder Weiss deals

[ September 30, 2025   //   ]

Davies Turner has signed an agreement with Talay Logistics to handle its daily two-way trailer services between Türkiye and the UK, while the Istanbul-based subsidiary of Gebrüder Weiss, one of Davies Turner’s longest-standing partners, will manage point of origin warehousing, quality control and compliance operations for clients sourcing from Türkiye.

The new arrangements replace a long-standing partnership with Türkiye-based EKOL Group in following the acquisition of its international transport network by Danish logistics and ferry operator DFDS in November 2024.

Davies Turner director, Alan Williams, said: “For many years, we had worked in partnership with the EKOL Group to develop and establish our leading presence in this trade lane.

“A change in ownership for EKOL’s international transport operations required us to develop new partnerships that would enable us undertake a seamless transition of the award-winning logistics operations that we deliver on this route.

“Through our partnership with Talay Logistics we are standardising door-to-door trailer services and supporting them with our Purchase Order Management system, which enables product tracking by PO number, SKU, or unit level, adding significant value.

“Our in-country partnership with Gebrüder Weiss Türkiye adds the stability that will allow us to continue to deliver value-added services for clients that are sourcing products from Türkiye.

“These include offshore end-to-end logistics operations, accepted quality levels (AQL) and quality checks (QC) on stock, as well as pick and pack operations, on location in Turkey.”

The UK forwarder says that it typically moves around 70-110 groupage and full-load trailers a week between the two countries, along with sea freight containers.

According to its website, Talay Logistics was set up in 2014 as Sarp Intermodal, focusing on intermodal freight transportation. offering air, sea, land, contract logistics, warehousing, customs clearance, and domestic transportation. It has facilities in Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Bursa, Izmir, Kocaeli, and Yalova in Türkiye, along with subsidiaries abroad in Germany, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Lithuania, and Romania.

It operates 20 and 45-foot containers, Isotanks, Swap Bodies, suspended-canvas trailers, chassis, trucks and employs over 700 people.
