EV Cargo says its investment in technology and a control tower system has helped it win three new UK contracts.

It will handle the import and receipt of freight from global manufacturing locations for aquarium retailer AllPond Solutions, storing goods at its contract logistics hub at Ashby and handling final distribution. It will also carry out full and part-load distribution to retailers, with smaller consignments handled by EV Cargo’s express network Palletforce, and eCommerce fulfilment in conjunction with Amazon Prime.

EV Cargo will also provide warehousing, eCommerce fulfilment and road distribution to domestic appliance retailer Versuni. It will palletise imported sea freight, store it and distribute to retailers, along with carrying out with eCommerce and B2C order fulfilment.

Thirdly, EV Cargo has secured the warehousing and distribution of Pernod drinks, transporting products from manufacturing locations, providing bonded warehousing at Ashby, and managing order and case picking and onward distribution.

EV Cargo Solutions chief executive, Andy Humpherson, said: “Since the pandemic, we’ve been transitioning to a more asset-light and technology-enabled operating model where our owned fleet is supported by EV Cargo’s extensive 4PL platform and the Palletforce express network, all connected by our world-class control tower system. That has allowed us to become more agile and efficient which in turn has helped secure these new contract wins.

“Our state-of-the-art contract logistics hub in Ashby, with its BRC accreditation and bonded facilities, is at the heart of our UK domestic network and ensures we can provide the best possible service to customers with the flexibility to respond to market conditions, supported by our tier 1 WMS system Blue Yonder.”
