North and South for DSV Italy rail service

[ July 2, 2019   //   ]

DSV are now operating a daily rail service between the UK and Italy via northern and southern crossings via Hull or Tilbury and offering a transit time of 5 to 8 working days.

Regardless of the port of exit when departing the UK, the vessel sails to Zeebrugge, where the trailers are placed on the train for onward delivery to Novara in Italy. On arrival in Novara DSV arranges collection and delivery to final destination. The same routing is used for Imports into the UK from Italy.

As well as the environmental benefits, the rail solution also enables the forwarder to handle ADR (dangerous goods) consignments.

Senior director, Denise Clarke commented: “Following the launch of the rail freight solution between the UK and Spain, we have been very happy with the service and have received many positive responses from our customers. We believe that adopting the same approach utilising rail between the UK and Italy will be the perfect solution to further improve our environmental footprint. Similar to the UK/Spain service, we will operate to and from certain postcodes in each country and as the operation is developed further, we will expand the coverage further.”
