Palletforce sets up Brexit taskforce

[ September 30, 2020   //   ]

EV Cargo’s Palletforce pallet network arm has set up a Brexit Taskforce to help customers prepare for the UK’s imminent departure from the EU.

It will use its own extensive knowledge of international shipping and customs formalities, combined with the specialised expertise of EV Cargo divisions, to address concerns as the 31 December deadline rapidly approaches.

Palletforce’s commercial and international director, David Breeze, said: “In a year in which our members have been rightly preoccupied by concerns over the impact of Covid-19 on their businesses, it has been easy to forget that Brexit is looming.

“The fact is, however, that many new processes will come into force with regard to European markets and we all need to take steps to prepare for them.”

Over the last few months Palletforce has been working closely with members who have significant international business and with the EV Cargo Global Forwarding division to identify areas of potential concern.

As well as providing clear guidance on the new requirements post-Brexit, the Taskforce will provide helpline assistance for members with specific queries. The company has also added additional features to its Alliance system to ensure it is ready to process European shipments post EU departure.

Breeze said: “As part of EV Cargo, Palletforce continues to develop sector-leading European and international services, and we are seeing a recovery in volumes as economies ramp up trading.

“While the fine print of the Brexit departure has yet to be confirmed, we are monitoring developments closely and will of course keep all of our members informed and provide support to ensure they continue to offer the best possible services to their customers.”

New routes to Greece, Turkey, Latvia, Lithuania and Croatia have brought the number of direct international services operated by Palletforce to 30, with a further ten countries due to be added in the next few months.
