[ January 19, 2022   //   ]

Container services operator Pentalver Transport – a sister company to rail operator Freightliner within Genesee & Wyoming – has completed phase three of its terminal expansion at DP World London Gateway. Despite ongoing challenges from the pandemic, the extensive work was completed to schedule and will increase the operation from nine to 14 acres and site capacity from 4,000 to 7,400teu.

The terminal now operates 24-hours per day, offering access to return and collect empty and laden containers.

G&W managing director of UK Terminal Services, Chris Lawrenson, said: “With changing customer demand and Covid-impacted inventory, the UK logistics industry has seen huge pressure on container terminal infrastructure over the course of 2021. Our new 24-hour, expanded facility allows us to add over 40% capacity to one of the UK’s critical mainline port operations and enhance our crucial support to the UK logistics industry.”

Pentalver’s also operates at Felixstowe, Southampton and inland at Cannock in the Midlands, offering services such as road haulage, container storage, container repairs, refrigeration services and cargo handling. It is also a container sales and converter.
