Philippine Airlines off EU banned list

[ July 10, 2013   //   ]

The European Commission has removed Philippine Airlines from its list of airlines banned from operating on its territory, following an improvement in safety standards. However, all other carriers registered in the Philippines remain subject to the country-wide ban that was imposed in 2010.

Venezuelan airline Conviasa, banned in 2012, has also been reinstated. The EU noted that good progress had been made in Libya but Libyan airlines would not be allowed to operate in Europe until it was fully recertified.

Siim Kallas, Commission Vice-President responsible for transport, said there had also been good progress in Mauritania and a number of other African countries.
