PM pledges £7m for Calais fence

[ July 29, 2015   //   ]

Prime Minister David Cameron has confirmed an extra £7m funding for new fencing at the Channel Tunnel terminal in Calais, following yet another attempt by migrants to storm the entrance last night. The BBC reported that one man was killed after he was hit by a truck in the incident, in which 1,500 people tried to enter the Tunnel. The money will be used to build 1.2 miles of new fencing at the Eurotunnel site.

Meanwhile, the EUObserver website reports an increase in the number of migrants trying to board trucks in Belgium, particularly at service stations in the Zeebbrugge-Ostend area.
