P&O Ferries chief Peter Hebblethwaite moves on
[ August 29, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]P&O Ferries chief executive Peter Hebblethwaite is to leave the DP World-owned company, according to press reports. The Dubai-based shipping and ports operator said that he wanted to dedicate more time to family matters and extended its gratitude to him for his contributions over the past four years.
Peter Hebblethwaite is perhaps best known for the controversial dismissal of almost 786 staff and their replacement with agency workers in 2022, an action that he said at the time was necessary to save the company from bankruptcy. He also oversaw the introduction of two Spirit class vessels on the Dover/Calais route, the closure of the Liverpool-Dublin freight route and, more recently, the axing of the Rosslare/ Cherbourg service.
