P&O Ferries’ Dover Calais route ‘to restart next week’

[ April 6, 2022   //   ]

P&O Ferries says its Pride of Kent and Spirit of Britain ships could restart services between Dover and Calais by the week beginning 11 April, according to press reports. The vessels are subject to inspections by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA).

A P&O Ferries spokesperson was quoted as saying that the operator was getting ready to resume services on “a number of vital routes” from the weekend and had been working closely with regulators to ensure that ships are safe to sail. It expected to have two of our vessels ready to sail on the Dover-Calais route by next week, subject to regulatory signoff,” they added.

However, the operator’s website on 6 April said that all Dover-Calais services remain suspended.

The withdrawal of P&O Ferries services together with dry-docking of DFDS vessels has led to long queues of trucks on the approaches to Dover and Calais.
