Portsmouth aims for big switch-off

[ October 12, 2021   //   ]

Portsmouth City Council has approved a strategy for shore power provision at municipally-owned Portsmouth International Port, which will allow ships to switch their engines off whilst alongside. It is part of the port’s plans to become one of the UK’s first zero emission ports under the government’s Maritime 2050 strategy. Portsmouth’s plan includes the short term development of a battery storage solution and a long-term ambition of supplying all vessels that visit the port.
