I have been in the ports industry for over three decades and it’s great to see that policy makers now appreciate what it is we do as a sector.

“I would also like to pay tribute to my predecessor, Neil Glendinning, who has been an important figure in the industry.”

British Ports Association chief executive, Richard Ballantyne, added: “Mike has been a great support as part of the BPA’s board in recent years and the team and I are looking forward to working with him as Chair. He has great expertise in our industry and is keen to help the BPA influence government at the highest level.

“I’d also like to thank Neil Glendinning for all his efforts. He has done a huge amount and remains a real friend of all in the BPA.”
