Rails return to Uganda

Rail service between Kenya and the north and northwest of Uganda has been restored after Citadel Capital’s Rift Valley Railways completed the first phase of the rehabilitation of 500 kilometers of track. The route links Kenya with Tororo in Eastern Uganda and Gulu in the north and had been semi-derelict for two decades

The official re-launch of the line in Guluwas attended by Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Citadel Capital Chairman and Founder Ahmed Heikal, as well TransCentury Director Ngugi Kiuna and BOMI Holdings Chairman Charles Mbire, along with local government officials and key executives from Citadel Capital and RVR.
