Ramsgate deal not renewed

[ January 6, 2017   //   ]

A deal between the port of Ramsgate and logistics company Gefco to import cars through the port has not been renewed, reports http://www.kentlive.news. The operation had temporarily brought commercial traffic back to the Thanet harbour, which has not handled regular ferry services since the bankruptcy of TransEuropa Ferries in April 2013. Gefco said that the decision to end the operation, which had imported over 16,000 vehicles, was due to a change in its, although it did not rule out a possible return in the future.

Gefco has an existing operation in Kent, at the port of Sheerness. The port’s owner, Peel recently gained planning permission to develop the former Thamesteel site as a logistics hub for automotive and other products.
