Red Kestrel: Made in Britain

[ April 26, 2019   //   ]

Karen George, wife of Red Funnel chairman, Kevin George, christened the Isle of Wight ferry operator’s new freighter, the Red Kestrel in Southampton on 25 April, breaking the traditional bottle of champagne across the stern.

She was accompanied by the Employment minister Alok Sharma who paid tribute to Red Funnel’s support for British craftmanship, jobs and the revival of shipbuilding in the UK.

The Red Kestel will go into service in May, supplementing capacity on Red Funnel’s ro-pax vessels between Southampton and East Cowes.

More on the Red Kestrel in the Ro ro report in the next printed issue of FBJ, FBJ 4 2019 in late May.
