Rhenus buys in Ireland

German forwarder the Rhenus Group has signed an agreement to acquire Ireland’s Avant Air and Sea, subject to approval. Avant, based in Dublin and founded in 1990, specialises in temperature-controlled and pharmaceutical shipments as well as hazardous consignments.

It also operates branches in Shanghai and Hong Kong and provides weekly consolidation and groupage freight services from China, the US and other Asian and Oceanic origins. Its portfolio of services includes consolidation, express, hand-carry and AOG services for air freight (particularly spare parts for aircraft that are urgently required).

Avant is also an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) and has IATA Dangerous Goods (DG) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification.

It will operate within the Rhenus Group under the name Avant Rhenus.
