Rhenus buys Swiss plant specialist

[ February 18, 2016   //   ]

Global forwarder the Rhenus Group has acquired Swiss project logistics specialist KOG Worldwide, described as a global leader in plant equipment.

It will operate under Rhenus’ Project Logistics division and business activities will be merged, but the KOG brand will continue to be used. Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, KOG operates 21 companies in 18 countries managing complex international logistics projects, specialising in plant construction. KOG Worldwide largely focuses on project logistics and international transport, mainly to the US, Europe and Asia.

Rhenus UK said that KOG’s tried and tested routes from Europe into markets in the US and Asia, along with an increased capacity through new sites across the world, would help it strengthen its own network.

Managing director of Rhenus Project Logistics, Tobias König, said: “Rhenus Project Logistics recently adjusted its strategy to become more international by opening new locations in North Africa and Asia. This acquisition will enable us to significantly expand our range of products and our project logistics network.”

MD of Rhenus Logistics UK, David Williams, added: “KOG is a strong name in the European logistics industry and has multiple sites located in key areas for manufacturing and construction. Rhenus UK customers who specialise in plant construction will benefit from KOG’s expert technical knowledge and country specific information which will allow for the speedy and smooth completion of projects.”
