Rioters trash Sony supply chain

[ August 12, 2011   //   ]

Sony put its business recovery plan into operation after rioters destroyed its main UK distribution centre in Enfield on 8 August. Stocks had to be replenished and a temporary warehouse operator appointed after over 1.5 million CDs were destroyed in the blaze. Independent artists were even worse hit as the Sony site also served as the distribution centre for PIAS, which licenses and distributes music from more than 150 British indie recording labels.

Orders were expected to start flowing again from Monday 15 August.
