Robert Kent to take AI to the next level at CSG

[ October 20, 2026   //   ]

Customs Support Group (CSG) has appointed Robert Kent as chief data and AI officer, a new executive role responsible across all European territories.

He is based in the UK and brings three decades of sector experience to the role, including senior leadership positions at Royal Mail, Pets at Home and Greggs. His experience includes building and scaling data and AI capabilities and translating technology investments into measurable operational and commercial value.

The appointment forms part of a broader investment in AI talent across CSG, including a new group head of AI engineering role and the ongoing recruitment of AI engineers across Europe.

Robert Kent said: “We are moving from automating individual tasks to rethinking the end-to-end customs process. Traditional automation has already delivered significant efficiency gains in highly-structured parts of the declaration process.

“Agentic AI allows us to extend those benefits into more complex areas that require context, judgement and coordination across multiple systems. That is where the next major step-change in customs digitalisation will come from.”
