Forth Ports sites host Scots politicians

Grangemouth hosted the Scottish Parliament’s cabinet secretary for transport, Fiona Hyslop MSP (pictured centre, with chief executive designate Stuart Wallace, right, and director of operations, Derek Knox) on 6 March in her first visit to a major port in her new role.

She was briefed by the Forth Ports senior port team, including chief executive designate, Stuart Wallace, on the investment programme underway at Grangemouth and across the group’s Scottish ports – including upgrades to infrastructure, equipment and rail.

Grangemouth, which handles 30% of Scottish GDP, will be a strategic site as part of the new Forth Green Freeport.

The following day, 7 March, Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack MP, toured the renewables hub at the Port of Leith where Forth Ports will deliver Scotland’s largest renewable energy hub on a 175-acre site.

The Secretary of State (pictured left, below with Alister Jack with Forth Ports apprentices Cameron Salmond, Reece Ferguson and Stuart Wallace) viewed the construction site of the bespoke riverside berth, where the foundation for the platform was completed last month.

Once completed this summer, the berth will be able to accommodate the world’s largest offshore wind installation vessels and will feature a heavy lift capability of up to 100 tonnes per square metre, with 175 acres of adjacent land for associated renewables logistics, marshalling and manufacturing.

The renewables hub in Leith is linked with Forth Ports’ plan to create a high-capacity FLOW (floating offshore wind) integration facility at the Port of Burntisland in Fife.
