SDV director loses work permit for ‘racism’

[ March 6, 2012   //   ]

Mozambican Labour Minister Helena Taipo has cancelled the work permit of Renand Jean Louis Sirex, the financial director of French-owned logistics company SDV AMI-Mocambique, accusing him of racist attitudes towards local workers. Allafrica.com, citing a Mozambique Labour Ministry press release, said that Sirex had been accused of repeatedly insulting Mozambican workers repeatedly, firing them without just cause, acts of racism and sexual harassment of women workers. The release gave no details of these acts. SDV AMI was formed from the takeover of AMI Mocambique in 1998 by SDV, the logistics wing of the French Bollore Group.
