SeaFrance in liquidation

[ January 9, 2012   //   ]

Dover-Calais ferry operator SeaFrance has been liquidated by The Tribunal de Commerce and told to cease its remaining activities, although services have been suspended since November 2011. The move is expected to result in the loss of about 1,000 jobs including almost 130 in Dover. Attempts by a workers’ cooperative and DFDS and LD Lines have provided unsuccessful, although Eurotunnel was reported to be considering a bid for SeaFrance’s assets, which include four ferries.
