Shanghai clean-up could halt supply chain, warns forwarder

[ March 18, 2016   //   ]

Chinese government efforts to temporarily clean up Shanghai’s notorious air pollution could disrupt supply chains, warns MIQ Logistics. The forwarder says that its Shanghai office is receiving increasing anecdotal evidence that factories in Shanghai and Hangzhou are being instructed by officials to prepare for slowdowns, partial and total shutdowns ahead of the G-20 summit which takes place in September in Hangzhou, close to the city. A clean air campaign, could force factories to reduce or cease production from as early as June, it says.
