Shipping costs ‘put off small exporters’

Many smaller firms said that the costs of shipping abroad are too high, or that they don’t have an accurate picture of their costs, 40% said they found it difficult to understand documentation requirements and 39% said their cargo has been held up in customs or lost in transit (27%), according to according to new research from online forwarding company, Shipa Freight.  

However, the survey also found that small and medium-size businesses are increasingly looking to cross-border trade for growth, seeing technology as a way past obstacles in shipping and compliance.
