Shipping expert to kick off Multimodal panel sessions

[ April 26, 2019   //   ]

Ocean Network Express (ONE) chief executive Jeremy Nixon will make the keynote speech at a panel session on the first day of the Multimodal 2019 show on 18 June, sharing his outlook for the liner shipping industry.

Nixon oversaw the merger of three Japanese shipping firms to become ONE, now one of the biggest shipping lines in the world.

He will be speaking alongside Ariaen Zimmerman, executive director of Cargo iQ, and John Manners-Bell, chief executive of Transport Intelligence, on a panel concerning disruption.

Nixon says: “Liner shipping faces many global challenges, but is rapidly evolving. ONE has come a long way since commencing operations a little over a year ago, and I am looking forward to taking the podium and sharing my experience and participating in the discussions at Multimodal 2019.”

Brexit lessons and opportunities, recruitment of new talent, and blockchain will also be discussed at Multimodal 2019’s three-day seminar and workshop programme.

“The panel on disruptors and disruption will provide the transport and logistics community with the opportunity to hear first-hand from industry leaders who spearhead change and innovation in our industry,” says Robert Jervis, logistics portfolio director at Mulitmodal organiser, Clarion Events. “It is the expertise and knowledge of all our speakers that make Multimodal a valuable experience for visitors, and I would like to extend my thanks to everyone taking part in leading the seminars, workshops and speeches.

“Multimodal is a showground where the entire supply chain is represented, and the education programme gives visitors the chance to come together and gain industry insights that help them to grow their professional networks and businesses.”

Voting has now opened for the FTA Multimodal Awards which recognise companies and individuals that have made exceptional contributions to logistics and covers categories such as Young Logistics Professional of the Year and Operator of the Year across the sectors.

The FTA Multimodal awards ceremony also features a gala dinner, hosted by snooker legend Steve Davis.
