We can handle it
DP World has invested in new handling equipment in Southampton. Two new empty container handlers, delivered at the end of 2018, mark the start of a planned programme of investment and redevelopment at the terminal.
The new Hyster machines, which can tandem lift two empty 40ft containers and stack higher than the terminal’s current machines, will create more capacity in the terminal’s empty park.
Over the course of the next two years, DP World Southampton will invest in four more machines and completely replace its existing fleet
Later this year, DP World Southampton will also take delivery of 12 new hybrid straddle carriers from Kalmar. These machines are also part of a sustainable investment programme to improve the terminal’s ship to shore handling of laden boxes.
