State sponsored ‘hold-ups’ of China freight trains?

[ March 30, 2020   //   ]

With airfreight services from China to Europe still in short supply and shipping services dislocated, many operators have been resorting to rail services to get urgently goods from the Far East, particularly urgent medical supplies.

However, one freight forwarder spoken to by FBJ said that some European governments had become aware of that potentially vital supplies of goods were passing through their territories and there have been allegations of containers being stopped en route and requisitioned by state authorities before they could reach the indended recipinent.

If other forwarders have experienced similar situations, we would be interested to hear from them.

Meanwhile, some airfreight rates ex-China and Hong Kong are reported to have reached around $10 a kilo.
