Stena Line chief executive Niclas Mårtensson has been appointed governor chair of the Supply Chain and Transport Industry Community at the World Economic Forum (WEF) for a two-year term. He takes over from Tan Chong Meng, group chief executive at freight forwarder PSA International.

The WEF brings together leaders from business, government, civil society, and academia to shape global, regional and industry agendas. WEF is most famous for the annual meeting in Davos, but the industry communities work together throughout the year, proposing, endorsing, and providing strategic input to priorities for the industry they represent.

Niclas Mårtensson will influence the policies and regulations around existing opportunities, with the goal of facilitating a fossil-free supply chain and transport industry. He will provide leadership for the community, help define the industry agenda, and identify where collective action may contribute to positive industry and global systemic outcomes.

He said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the agenda that will enable the transition to fossil-free, inclusive, and safe movement of goods. The WEF brings together such a vast diversity of political leaders and influential people from business and the civil society who are all engaged in collaborating to create actual change for a better world.”
