Stena takes the keys for new ferry

[ November 15, 2019   //   ]

Stena later has officially taken ownership of the Stena Estrid, at a ceremony at the AVIC Weihai Shipyard in China, following the successful completion of sea trials.

She is the first of its three new ferries destined for the Irish Sea on routes from Dublin to Holyhead and Belfast to Liverpool.

Stena Line owner Dan Sten Olsson attended a service while the Reverend Stephen Miller of the Mission to Seafarers blessed the vessel to bring her good luck at sea.

Part of a multi-million-pound investment in the region, the new ships will be amongst the most advanced vessels in operation and larger than today’s standard RoPax vessels. At 215 metres long, Stena Estrid will provide 3,100 lane metres of freight capacity, an increase of 50%.
