Strike shuts Calais – long delays in Kent

[ September 24, 2020   //   ]

Freight operators are reporting long delays on roads leading to Dover after the port of Calais was by a 24-hour strike  by French unions. Services have been suspended and operators are diverting to alternative ports with the port of Dover remaining operational.

Woodland Group says that  there are delays on the road to Dover as well as Calais with freight waiting to be rerouted, which may carry through over the coming days as the backlog is being worked through.

The BBC says that Operation Stack has been implemented on the M20 , adding that ferry operators are switching some services to Dunkirk instead.
