Strong start for new Rhenus hub

[ October 17, 2018   //   ]

Rhenus UK says its Manchester facility has processed over 5,000 vehicle movements in the first year since its opening in October 2017. The figure included over 2,500 exports to destinations in Europe, Asia and South America.

The hub, situated at Port Salford is also home to Staples International, which was acquired by Rhenus in November 2016. A key aim of Rhenus’ investment in the facility was to strengthen its road, air and ocean coverage with the lunch of services to Mediterranean and North African destinations.

Rhenus UK managing director David Williams (pictured), said: “Opening the doors of the site was a huge milestone for the business, and represented Rhenus’ commitment to further strengthening our presence in the North West. Indeed, the facility has provided us with more than 40,000 sq ft of logistics and warehousing space, and enabled us to further expand some of our key market offerings, including our temperature controlled logistics provision.”

Rhenus has also launched new facilities in Ireland, New Zealand and Brazil.
