[ January 31, 2020   //   ]

AirBridgeCargo airlines has successfully completed trial loading of the world’s largest jet engine, the GE9x, on board one of its Boeing 747-8 freighters in Chicago.

The GE9X, which weighs over 11.5 tonnes, has been developed by GE Aviation for the Boeing 777X aircraft, which first flew in early 2020.

Thanks to meticulous planning, the ABC  team loaded the engine through the side cargo door on board within seven minutes , while off-loading took less than ten minutes.

GE Aviation GE9X product support engineer, Jin Suzuki, said: “Our teams learned much through this process, and the AirBridgeCargo team was highly competent in their efforts, This is a great step forward for the GE9X entry in service readiness effort.”

ABC deputy general director, Fedor Novikov added: “We are proud to be a part of the GE9x transportation manual development. We appreciate  the vote of confidence and look forward to supporting GE further.”
