Suffolk ports suffer two fatalities

Ports in Suffolk have suffered two fatalities in less then 24 hours. One man was killed and another seriously injured in an accident at the Port of Ipswich in Suffolk early on the evening of Friday 16 December. The two men are believed to have been crushed by a floating pontoon. The injured man was taken to Ipswich Hospital but his condition is not yet known, said the BBC. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and police will be carrying out a joint inquiry.

And a man described by police as a foreign national died after falling onto a ship at Felixstowe at about 07:45 on Saturday 17 December. The area has been cordoned off and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency is to be informed, a police spokeswoman said.
