Surface transport competition rules go under the microscope

[ March 11, 2024   //   ]

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is reviewing the Rail, Road and Inland Waterway Transport Block Exemption Regulation ahead of a recommendation to government on whether to vary or revoke it. It is one of the EU block exemption regulations that were in force at the end of the Brexit Transition Period on 31 December 2020 and retained in UK law.

The move follows a similar review of the EU’s Liner Shipping Consortia Block Exemption, which the CMA recommended should not be renewed.
