Swansea-Cork ferry to shut

[ February 2, 2012   //   ]

The Swansea-Cork ‘Fastnet’ ferry service is to close with the loss of 78 jobs, following the failure of a rescue attempt. The operation had been suspended in November due to rising fuel costs but owners, West Cork Tourism Co-operative Society, had to resume in March. It said that EU state aid rules had prevented a relaunch despite pledges of financial support.
