Methanol ship makes UK debut

Port of London’s London Gateway terminal has handled the world’s first methanol-fuelled container vessel. The 2,100tey Laura Maersk made her maiden call on 27 September on the Baltic shipping route between Northern Europe and the Bay of Bothnia. The containers were discharged and delivered to their brand-new, more sustainably built warehouse, moving via rail in partnership with Maritime Transport.
