TIACA warns of fall-off in African air capacity

[ April 28, 2020   //   ]

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) is warning that air cargo capacity between Africa and Europe has dropped by 70% compared to 2019, according to CLIVE Data Services. It is encouraging African airlines to respond by putting passenger freighter systems in place, such as those implemented by Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, SAA and Rwandair.  Meanwhile, perishables exports from Nairobi to Europe have fallen from 5,000 tons to 1,800 tons per week, which will have disastrous effects on the agriculture sector in Kenya.
