Train takes the strain from Turkey

[ November 7, 2023   //   ]

Turkey is an important market for Italian-owned rail operator TX Logistik, despite the current generally difficult geopolitical and economic conditions.

The company, which is part of Mercitalia Logistics (and in turn the Italian state railway, FS Italiane Group) currently operates an intermodal connection between Istanbul and the Romanian/Hungarian border town of Curtici three times a week in each direction in cooperation with a traction partner.

From there an intermodal train operates to the CTS Container Terminal in Cologne.with the transit for the entire route between Cologne and Istanbul taking seven days.

The operator uses the NiKRASA handling system as Turkey mainly uses non-craneable trailers.
