Turkish Airlines offers Durban option

[ June 17, 2022   //   ]

Turkish Airlines has extended two of its Istanbul-Johannesburg flights to include Durban on Thursdays and Saturdays with plans to increase these to four weekly flights later this year, depending on uptake.

The first flight to land at King Shaka International Airport was given a warm welcome.

Currently, Emirates flies five flights a week from Durban  to Dubai, Qatar Airways flies four direct flights a week, with plans to increase this to five later this month.

Turkish Airline’s new route will also boost cargo capacity, said officer of Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone, Hamish Erskine. He said that with the gradual reintroduction of international, regional and domestic air services the Dube Cargo Terminal had seen 23% growth of 23% over the past 12 months.
