Turners to buy container haulier

Road haulier Turners of Soham has bought container haulier Macintyre Transport as part of its programme to expand its maritime activities. It will give Turners 400 vehicles operating at the ports of Felixstowe, Tilbury, Gateway and Southampton and at railhead terminals at Selby, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham.
Macintyre will remain as a stand-alone business headed by its directors, Paul Miller and Mike West but founder and owner, Harvey Macintyre, will retire from the business. He commented ‘’Macintyre Transport, its customers and its people are extremely important to me. I am delighted to have found a buyer with the same values who I know will take the business forward for the long term benefit of all. It is in safe hands’’.
