Two new leaders for Maersk Air team

Christoph Hemmann is to join Maersk’s Air in September as head of global air and LCL taking over from Murali Rajamani who has transferred to another position within Maersk.

Before joining Maersk, he held key positions at DHL Global Forwarding and DB Schenker.

At Maersk, he will also be responsible for Maersk’s cargo airline Maersk Air Cargo (MAC) with a fleet of 18 Boeing 767F and two new B777Fs.

John McDonald will step into the role of head of Maersk Air Freight Forwarding (MAFF), taking over from John Wetherell who has left the company. He was most recently executive vice president and head of airfreight for Americas at DB Schenker and prior held leadership roles at companies including STG logistics, UTi Worldwide and CEVA logistics.

In 2024, Maersk managed 327,000 tonnes of air cargo, up 11% versus 2023, maing it number 15 in Armstrong & Associates’ Global Air Freight Forwarding ranking.
