TX Logistik and Ecco plan UK’s first piggyback train

[ June 16, 2022   //   ]

TX Logistik aims to set up first Channel Tunnel piggyback route.

The German rail logistics company is planning to transport unaccompanied (‘piggyback’) semi-trailers by long distance rail through the Channel tunnel for the first time as part of its European expansion.

TX Logistik, which belongs to the Mercitalia Group (part of the Italian rail company, Gruppo FS Italiane), plans to develop a rail freight connection between Cologne and the London region with its partner, Ecco Rail.

TX Logistik, based in Troisdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, says that the transport sector must contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Rail freight will play an essential role in the drive to achieve national and international climate protection goals.

Further information is available at the TX Logistik stand at Multimodal (RFG 6), where the company is participating for the first time.
